down rally challenge for mainland mini's...

02 May 2019
With entries opening in less than two weeks, the Carryduff Forklift Down Rally are looking forward to welcoming competitors from a third championship to Northern Ireland. In addition to the returning McGrady Insurance Northern Ireland Rally Championship and the Protyre Asphalt Rally Championship, the July event will also host a round of the FUCHS Lubricants Classic Mini Challenge.

Set up to fill a gap left by other events, the FUCHS Lubricants Classic Mini Challenge will take on the County Down Stages as round six of an eight round calendar.

Deputy Clerk of the Course, Brian Crawford commented,
"Our Service Park will again be based at the Eikon Centre near Lisburn and it'll be great to welcome all our competitors back to this great facility. We are looking forward to seeing some of these beautiful classic minis's arriving, there's something quite nostalgic about the sight and sounds of a mini out on the stages. We are delighted to be hosting this new Championship and we hope competitors will make the effort to come across and enjoy a weekends craic with us."

Championship co-ordinator and Clitheroe and District Motor Club member, Chris Woodcock added;
"We are pleased to take this new championship to the Carryduff Forklift Down Rally in Northern Ireland. I have devised a format with simple class structure for contenders to demonstrate their skills and abilities on the highest quality asphalt rallies around the United Kingdom. The ethos of this challenge is about friendly rivalry and putting fun back into the sport."

We have no doubt seeing these beautiful little cars take on our classic stages will appeal to all age groups.
