Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council try out the driver's seat ahead of the locally based Carryduff Forklift Down Rally....
Members of the Carryduff Forklift Down Rally organising team were welcomed to Moira Demesne by Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council Development Committee Chairman, Alderman Allan Ewart MBE, to mark the council's support of the motorsport event which will be based at the Eikon Exhibition Centre on the outskirts of Lisburn on Saturday 20th July.
After familiarising his guests with the beautiful surroundings, Alderman Ewart commented:
“I’m delighted that we are supporting this event and proud that it is taking place within our council area. The Down Rally will add to an already packed calendar of sporting events for Lisburn & Castlereagh and I’m looking forward to the boost to tourism that this event will bring. I’d encourage participants, organisers and visitors to take some time during the event to enjoy the wonderful sights and hospitality on offer while they are here.”
Event Deputy Clerk of the Course and local resident, Brian Crawford, added:
"I am absolutely delighted to have been invited to be present in such beautiful surroundings this morning, it is an area I am familiar with and have visited with my family many times over the years. To be here this morning to celebrate Lisburn and Castlereagh City Councils support of the Carryduff Forklift Down Rally, really is a privilege. The event is in the final stages of preparation and after the success of last year's rally, we hope to deliver another exciting, family oriented day out again on 20th July.
"The Eikon Exhibition Centre is disability friendly and offers a fantastic base for the event again in 2019 hosting both the Service Part and a Spectator Stage. Admission is free for under 16's when accompanied by an adult, and we will have free children's activities going on throughout the day.
"With competitors and their teams travelling from all over the UK and Ireland, we look forward to welcoming them to Lisburn in just over a week’s time and we hope they can take some time, perhaps after the event, to enjoy everything the area has to offer."
