The Down Rally is one of the best established Motorsport events in the local area. The rally is an exciting and colourful event which attracts competitors and spectators from all over Ireland and beyond. It has the potential to bring an estimated half a million pounds of additional expenditure into the local area over the rally weekend.
The event utilises some of the best and challenging roads in Europe and to facilitate this the Department For Infrastructure have granted the organisers a 'Road Close Order' to suspend the right of way on 20th July. As part of the requirements of this Order, the organisers have put in place a comprehensive Traffic Management Plan to minimise disruption to the general public. This Plan has been created in collaboration with the PSNI and incorporates the erection of 150+ diversion signs to guide the general public around the roads which are closed on the 20th July.
